Lead Teacher – Afterschool Program

Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Lead Teacher to support our Afterschool Program. The Lead Teacher will work directly with a group of students, creating a safe, engaging, and structured environment that supports academic success, positive behavior, and social development.

The ideal candidate has experience working with school-age children, demonstrates strong classroom management skills, and models professionalism and positivity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead a group of students while maintaining high standards for behavior and safety, aligned with our school values
  2. Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activities using program curriculum and materials
  3. Supervise and engage a group of 14 students in a classroom setting
  4. Students grades Between Tk – 5th Grade
  5. Implement effective classroom management and behavior support strategies
  6. Assist with daily snack serving, and clean-up
  7. Support daily set-up, break-down, and maintenance of program spaces
  8. Ensure student safety by taking attendance and monitoring sign-in/sign-out procedures
  9. Serve as a positive role model through appropriate dress, language, and behavior
  10. Create a fun and inclusive environment that fosters belonging and engagement
  11. Support students in making positive choices and apply discipline appropriately when needed
  12. Identify student needs and communicate effectively with the Site Coordinator, staff, school administration, and parents
  13. Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

  • 6–12 units in Child Development (12 units preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children (TK–5th grade)
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to lead, engage, and support a diverse group of students

    Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • After school hours
