We are seeking a motivated and reliable Assistant Director to support the daily operations of our Afterschool Program. This leadership role works closely with the Director to ensure a safe, organized, and engaging environment for students while supporting staff, curriculum planning, and overall program development. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong work ethic, is eager to learn and grow, and brings creativity and innovation to student activities and program success. For the right serious candidate, we are willing to cover the cost of obtaining the Administrative Credential through Laguna Tech if not already completed. Role is a full time – PTO – SICK TIME AND Holiday pay (10 days) Monday – Friday 10:00am-6:15pm weekends off.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic Full-Time Assistant Director to support the daily operations of our Afterschool Program. This role works closely with the Director to ensure the program runs smoothly, safely, and in full compliance with school, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review and provide feedback on after-school curriculum calendars; distribute to parents, staff, and the Director.
  2. Support curriculum planning and introduce engaging, innovative program activities.
  3. Coordinate and support enrichment vendors and programs. Assist with staff development, coaching, and program improvement.
  4. Support implementation of instructional materials and enrichment curriculum.
  5. Prepare weekly staff schedules, monitor attendance, and assist with staff evaluations.
  6. Observe and provide feedback to Site Team Leaders and Enrichment Staff.
  7. Review supply requests, monitor expenses, and conduct inventory.
  8. Oversee snack orders and ensure equitable distribution.
  9. Conduct safety inspections and coordinate emergency drills.
  10. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and licensing requirements.
  11. Review timesheets and assist with payroll coordination. Coordinate staff coverage and assist with after-school events.
  12. Participate in leadership meetings, trainings, and family engagement events. Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Minimum 12 units in Child Development required. Knowledge of curriculum planning and instructional strategies. Understanding of childcare program management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Basic computer skills for communication and reporting.

Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. Sound judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to train, support, and evaluate staff. Strong relationship-building skills. Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn.

Education and Experience

Minimum 12 Child Development units. At least 2 years of experience working with children, TK through 6th grade.

Certifications

Valid CPR and First Aid Certification required.

Compensation and Benefits

Paid Time Off (PTO): 10 days (80 hours) per school year. Sick Time: Accrued in accordance with California state law. Paid Holidays: 10 paid holidays per school year. Professional Development: Opportunity for growth and advancement. Program can also pay for childcare credentials if needed. Administrative Credential Support: For the right candidate, the program will cover the cost of obtaining an Administrative Credential.

Schedule

8 hour shifts. Monday through Friday after school hours. Weekends and holidays off.
